FAQ

How do I Check the DNA Server Gateway and Client Gateway Activity?

Archiv

If you have installed the DNA Server Gateway and Client Gateway, to allow remote DNA Client machines to connect to the DNA Server, and you wish to view the activity of the Server and Client Gateways to troubleshoot connectivity issues, there is an inbuilt diagnostic window that can be viewed by applying a registry entry to the machine.

Details

The DNA Server Gateway and Client Gateways run as a service on the machine on which they are installed. The connections between the DNA Client machines, Client Gateways and Server Gateway are handled in the background by the respective services.

The fact that all of the DNA traffic is processed in the background can make it difficult to confirm if the services are running correctly, and if the connections from the DNA Client machines are working as expected.

To help with the diagnosing of connection issues on the DNA Server Gateway and Client Gateways there is a registry setting that can be applied on the machines to display a diagnostic window that will show the current activity across the DNA Gateway.

To view the diagnostic windows please use the following methods:

DNA Server Gateway

1. Run regedit
2. Navigate to the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWARENetSupport LtdNetSupport DNAGateway location
3. Right click in the right hand pane and select New | String Value
4. Enter ShowGatewayS as the name and press Enter
5. Double click the ShowGatewayS entry and set the Value data field to 1 then click OK
6. Run services.msc and restart the NetSupport DNA Gateway Server service
7. Click the Start button When the DNA Server Gateway diagnostic window is displayed

The DNA Client Gateway connection and real-time activity will now be displayed on the DNA Server Gateway diagnostic window.
